I live in Portland and sometimes I make video games if I can find somebody who will pay me to do it.

My Chromebook is officially obsolete now and will no longer be receiving updates. I guess that means I have to replace it soon. I would just keep using it anyway, but it's also become extremely slow. Why does that happen to computers? I don't understand it. People are just like "oh there's too much stuff installed," which I guess could make sense if all of that stuff were running at once, but it isn't, and this thing is pretty much just a browser so it's not like there's a lot of stuff to install other than extensions. If the storage was almost full, maybe it could be running out of swap space or something, but that isn't the case either. Is it just that over the years that I've been using this, websites have become so much more bloated that the same hardware that used to handle them fine now struggles with them? I don't know. But it sucks.

Anyway the timing is unfortunate considering I'm about to lose my income. I do have an old Macbook that I can use, but I like my Chromebook because it's so light and doesn't get ridiculously hot.

honestly if you can afford it i recommend getting a used thinkpad from a few years ago. most of them are fast enough to be usable in the modern day while being fairly reliable and not too expensive
