Mightymountains is thriving, kinda. We're up to 143 citizens. We don't have as much of a surplus of food and drink as I'd like, but it's been slowly increasing since I built some more farms.
We breached the caverns and then immediately walled it off. But that was enough to get fungus to start growing on the soil on the top level of the fortress, meaning animals could graze on it, so I moved my pasture indoors, and that seems to have reduced the agitated animal attacks dramatically. Now the only time anybody needs to go to the surface is when they need to access the corpse/refuse stockpile, which is pretty infrequent. (Or I guess if they need to chop down trees, but we have plenty of wood for now.) And that means we should be able to close the drawbridge and lock ourselves in in case of emergency. It's been oddly quiet for the last few months, though.
I was tired of our artifacts being stolen, so I built a vault with a door that can only be opened by pulling a lever in the mayor's office. Hopefully that should reduce the risk of theft. (Formerly, the artifacts were on display in one of the taverns for everyone to enjoy, but I guess we can't have nice things.)
Most of the citizens are pretty happy. There are a few who aren't, but they haven't caused any significant trouble yet. We don't have nearly enough bedrooms, though. It's just tedious to make them, having to coordinate building beds and doors and everything. It doesn't help that our manager has been slacking when it comes to approving work orders. Although to be fair, he might be having trouble getting to his office because the top floor is so crowded. I wish people would spread out and hang out on the lower floors more, but what are ya gonna do.
