There are a lot of things that I like about my apartment, but these ridiculous sliding doors for the bedroom and closet are not one of them. They're just slabs of wood that hang from a track about an inch in front of the doorway. You can't lock or even latch them. A cat can easily push them open enough to get through. They don't block sound. They make a loud sound when you move them (loud enough to wake a sleeping person). And they make it so that large portions of your wall space are unusable because you have to leave room for the door to slide there when open. I can't think of anything good about them. What are we doing? Just have regular doors!

what the heck? we have this type of door on the closets in our new home, but it would be awful for a room's door
It's really bizarre. I probably would not have taken this apartment if I'd been here in person first and messed with the doors.
