I just got an email saying that my Analogue Pocket preorder is being prepared to ship. I tried to preorder one in the initial preorder period years ago and the website was broken and I thought it never went through. What the heck
I still don't know if they're actually going to send me one of these. I don't really mind either way, but I'm pretty curious.
This thing actually arrived yesterday, to my surprise. It's... cool, I guess. I don't remember where I'm storing my Game Boy games, so I haven't really been able to use it as intended yet, but I popped all the openFPGA cores on there so I can emulate stuff. But it's the usual experience of loading it up with a bunch of ROMs, running a few and going, "Yep, that works," and then not actually playing them for more than a few minutes. The novelty has definitely worn off at this point. I already have a Steam Deck (which I don't think existed at the time that I pre-ordered this thing) and if I really wanted to play old games on a handheld I could just use that, but I haven't bothered. Maybe I'm just at a point in my life where I don't really need to play those old games anymore as I inch closer and closer to the grave. At least now I know I definitely shouldn't get a MiSTer, even though they seem cool.
