I live in Portland and sometimes I make video games if I can find somebody who will pay me to do it.

I'm watching Giant Bomb play Mario Kart 8 and they're being like "yeah, there doesn't need to be Mario Kart 9, there's nothing to improve from 8" at the same time as they're struggling with this ridiculous online matchmaking stuff where you can't even choose the tracks you want to play

I figured out my Arcade Paradise problem. Turns out I had to put the money in a safe before I could spend it. There actually was a tutorial for that; I just completely forgot about it.

One thing that bugs me about this game is that all the washers and dryers use a font that's supposed to look like those old-school digital numbers that are made up of a bunch of lines that get turned on and off to represent the numbers, BUT the font is not fixed-width. So whenever there's a number that contains a 1, the positions of the other numbers change in a totally unrealistic way. My immersion is brokeN!

Not sure how I'm feeling about the game otherwise. I guess I'm moderately enjoying it, but... I dunno, I was hoping for a bit more management sim and less laundry. I know I probably will get to a point where the arcade stuff is making enough money that I can just ignore the laundry, but if there's a basket of laundry sitting there, I'm going to feel obligated to wash it... and then I'm committed to 3 minutes of waiting for the washer and then another 3 minutes of waiting for the dryer. Also, a minute of real time equals roughly an hour of in-game time, so each load of laundry takes about 6 hours, and I need to leave by around 11pm, which means I can't start any laundry after 5pm, even though the laundromat is open until 8 or 9 (at least, according to the times on the door -- but that also says it's closed on Sunday, which isn't actually true).

I dunno, man.

In other news, I have a job interview on Monday and another on Tuesday, both of which I'm pretty nervous about, for different reasons.

I'm playing this game called Arcade Paradise and I think eventually you're supposed to manage an arcade, but so far it's mostly about running a laundromat and doing laundry. I think I probably need to buy another arcade machine to progress, but when I try to buy it on the website, it says I have insufficient funds, which I assume is because my money is just in cash and not in my checking account, but I don't know how to transfer it. Or, maybe I'm meant to be doing laundry this long, I dunno. If that's the case I think I disagree with that design choice.
