I'm a bit frustrated because it seems like TME people in the trans community are continuing to maneuver around or flat out shut down conversations regarding the privilege we wield over trans women and transfems.

I understand that sometimes admitting you wield privilege over others can be an uncomfortable reality to face. Especially when you're marginalized, yourself. But it's very necessary when you want to be an ally to others and want to work to unite your community and humanity as a whole.

If you're a transmisogyny-exempt trans person, you NEED to have these conversations. You need to admit that your experiences with discrimination are vastly different from your transfem siblings and, while that doesn't make your experiences with discrimination invalid or not worth taking seriously, it means that there are instances where you need to be listening instead of talking and when you need to be using the power you have to help others.

"Transunity" is not possible if you can't admit you have privilege as a TME person. "Conditional privilege" is still privilege nonetheless, and not all privilege we have is even conditional to begin with.

It is not divisive to admit transfems have a unique experience with oppression. Accepting we're not the exact same will actually benefit the cause to unite the trans community.

I'm not trying to start an argument here. I just want other TME trans people, especially other trans men, to understand that we have power and privilege and we need to be using it for good when we can.
