The full experience is as cringe as actual Sonic, so that's fitting kinda sorta?
Still, two full hours of hits and misses, which includes an extended wedding sequence, has too many dead zones to really get that punchy payoff whenever someone pulls out a Mega Drive manual. Behind every genuinely thoughtful moment is a scene where you want to walk away and never look back. Sonic 2 is a fun time, even if it's clearly a justification to cash in on its current popularity. Yin and yang, echidnas and owls, balance in all things. This is the definition of "mid."
