dude was just sentenced to 2 years prison (5-year suspended sentence) & a ¥1M fine for sharing "fast content" (summary/spoiler videos of various media, typically with just enough edits to technically not be full uploads) that included the ending to a certain Steins;gate game, which Kadokawa doesn't want people sharing online—he was sharing videos from other media, including SPYxFAMILY, but the reporting makes it seem like Kadokawa was primarily aggrieved by the game spoilers, and most of the coverage is touting this as the first-ever conviction regarding copyright violation via game footage
so yeah, ffffffffffffffffuck this
Kadokawa is responsible for some of the most "my shit" kinda games; Killer is Dead, Lollipop Chainsaw, Rodea the Sky Soldier. They published those Trails games. So this leaves me very conflicted.
As such, I learned two things today; one bad, one good.
-
Good news: Kadokawa Games is no longer actually a part of Kadokawa. They peaced out last year. They're now "Dragami Games" Pfew
-
Bad news: I never knew that Kadokawa owns FromSoftware.
