Huh... This movie started with a recipe for success, so how did it end up like this? I didn't know that Anne Hathaway was capable of a bad role, but this is one of them. She is chewing on that scenery, mama. This is clearly directed as a kids movie, but it's also not one? Is no one going to mention the ransacked room? What the hell was that ending?

Honestly, it's still a watchable movie. The undeniably Black tone is a nice rip towards the bigoted author and Octavia Spencer is golden. There's a definite camp factor here that people will enjoy. It's just...I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this mismatched concoction.
