I feel like there's a Gen X crowd that would be upset that Wednesday on Netflix is obviously catering more to Harry Potter kids. It's not the old Addams Family. It approaches it from a more bubbly angle. The relatable factor, even in the fantastical, is much more important in today's fiction.
It's a little cringey, sure, but they do a good job of taking the old, more somber tone and transforming it into something that's saccharine, but more palatable. It's not perfect, but that's a thin rope to walk as it is. The only ways it really faulters is when it does the "hello fellow kids" thing that so many of these shows go for.
If you can get over its vibe, there's a good show in there.
