Staying with TurboGrafx CD games, the platform was full of shoot 'em ups. The most colorful, by far, was Star Parodier, renamed in the west as Fantasy Star Soldier in an unreleased version.
This game that lets you play as Bomberman or a sentient TurboGrafx was a take on Konami's Parodius. Developer Hudson would later be acquired by Konami. I'm not saying that's the pettiest move in games, but it is funny.
