& after one episode i was so charmed by its classic syfy feel over hints of shockingly interesting politics that i told my gf we should watch it together & we just finished the last episode & i am SO... SAD... THAT IT GOT CANCELLED AFTER THIS ONE SEASON... like it almost certainly would have exploded out of control, signs of genre fiction scope creep were already starting to peek through in just those six episodes, but it was also doing something so cool & weird & fun & good??? it feels like someone finished a read of the dispossessed in the morning, spent the afternoon watching the first season of the oa, then went to a party where they listened to their marxist friend talk abt family abolition for an hour to round off the evening. then got a really good night of sleep & when they woke up they said "actually if i don't write a brash female pilot right now i'll die" & started making this show with all of that going on. i am utterly fascinated by the specific rakes it doesn't step on & how deeply... earnest it is? not naive, but hopeful, & strong for it. not cynical, without shying away from darkness. i really loved it!!! then of course when i went to read abt it after, i found out that it was cancelled as a tax writedown as AMC+ tightened up its budget & then they remoVED IT FROM THE SITE ENTIRELY SO NOW YOU JUST CAN'T.... GET IT........ EXCEPT ON DVDS & THROUGH THE LIBRARY I GUESS!!!! THANK YOU LIBRARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYONE SAY THANK YOU LIBRARY & check out moonhaven i want to know what you think. im sure its tone & writing crosses the line into "cloying" for some people but i found it deeply endearing & affecting & heartening
- both dominic monaghan's (aka merry from LotR and charlie from lost) and the other lead, emma mcdonald's (aforementioned brash female pilot) performances were astounding
- a utopic re-imagining of what police are and do in society that is actually so wonderful and interesting
- THE MOST PRO-FAMILY ABOLITION SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN? SO MUCH SO I CAN'T BELIEVE IT GOT RELEASED?
- it's just soooo earnest it's so nice, it's 6 episodes watch moonhaven
