the more research I do the more I'm convinced that swapping an EZ30 into my (EJ253-equipped) Impreza is a brilliant idea. Now to upset all my neighbours by buying a wrecked 2005 Legacy and leaving it in my driveway for eight months

From what I see everywhere engine swaps usually end in misery but it all seems really simple in this case. Subaru engine bays are all identical, the transmission bolts right up. That plus the Forester strut swap (5cm lift) will make it a decently saucy off-road vehicle. The two areas of concern are radiator packaging (since the EZ30 is about 2cm longer) and body harness integration with the donor Legacy's ECU (required for road legality/emissions stuff). Fortunately, there is a growing aftermarket for EZ30/36 swaps, particularly in Australia, so there's local expertise (and hardware) I can draw on for that...

...I dunno!! I'm starting to get excited. I really want to keep my first car going in some form and this feels right

EDIT: U-Pull-It has some shit I'm after so I am absolutely going on an adventure tomorrow
