A break from posting about my jam game and other game: tonight was the first time I’ve taught a grappling class solo! I’ve done a bit of teaching support/showing some techniques etc. but this was my first little rodeo.

As I said on Twitter (lol RIP my ol’ legacy blue checkmark today) I was really excited (and a bit nervous!) - I Really focused on concepts and encouraged a bit of play and experimentation and got some positive comments! I really hope folks enjoyed it!

Grappling means a lot to me, I’m enjoying it more and more even as I get less competition oriented (I’ll compete again sometime, just, hopefully in a less covid-y environment). I’m close to 6.5 years into this particular journey and really enjoyed the experience of running a class (even if I’m SURE I could’ve explained a lot of it much better.)

Grats! I know I've really happily taken to the "elder statesman of the gym" role--always enjoyed mentorship and it's been nice to get a small taste of the teaching life in the little sessions here and there, seeing our kids compete (and recently, have them do pretty well!).

No doubt you enjoy it just as much! It's so cool when you can start to make the transition to sharing knowledge. Also a sign of being an attentive learner, IMHO! 😀

Thank you so much! And ha, yeah, I'm kinda looking forward to my elder statesman days (where once I dreaded EVERY aspect of aging, especially as an athlete). I started grappling so late (just before turning... 33?) it was always such a sore point, and now I'm seeing there are ways I can honestly learn more and deepen my love of the sport.
