I just read this and it's pretty rad? It's one of the most interesting takes on zombie stuff I've ever read, and it probably works better if you go in blind. It's also a breezy read.
And Then I Woke Up is very interested in how the stories we tell ourselves shape our view of the world and, in turn, how we act within it. And while it's quite possible to view it as a centrist, anti-art text if you're being uncharitable... I don't really think that's the intention at all. It captures something undeniably of the current moment, of having to live side by side with people who don't just disagree with our reality but fundamentally reject it. And I've never seen any other piece of media really succeed in encapsulating that.
