Dune Review

obviously I’m thinking about this movie mostly in contrast to the New Dune, and I don’t think I liked this one as much as that one, but it’s really fascinating the differences and similarities between them.
A lot like the new one, this movie is mostly Vibes. Events just sort of occur, and in the incredibly rushed two hour runtime a lot of exposition is delivered quite literally directly to the camera. The amount of “[inner voice]” in the subtitles is so fucking funny.
It’s quite charming, I have to say. It’s not like, great, but it’s very charming. I really liked the increased amount of mentat/navigator shit that is not in the Villeneuve one. An enjoyable watch, but I can see why it didn’t really land at the time.
