thinking about @hthrflwrs' post about reflecting on a manifesto that they wrote six years ago and thinking about How I Used to Make Things six or ten years ago and how that's changed. I don't have a big point here which is why I'm making it my own post and not adding to heather's post.

but like in 2015 or so i went to poetry competition (i think it was CUPSI 2015 if that means anything to you) and i went to a workshop about Writing Poetry As A Black Person and there was a line from that that I'll remember forever which was (paraphrased) "poetry can take you apart, but it's not going to put you back together again. only community can do that" and basically that is something I think about in the process of Artistic Creation all the time.

I wouldn't say I'm more 'pessimistic' about the process or product of artistic creation now, exactly -- but i'm more pragmatic about it, for sure. i don't think there's a healing or radical power in art, I think the healing or radicalism can only come out of something that someone does after indulging in the Art. and that's a lot harder to control, as the artist. you can just try your best and hope that through love your meaning can be seen

umineko.
