i really wish i could see what other people see in soulslikes but i truly just do not enjoy the process of playing them!! i have tried so many and the only one i've liked is Jedi Fallen Order/Jedi Survivor and i think that's mostly just because my star wars obsession carried me through it. and because it has an Easy Mode. but god i really just do not enjoy banging my head against a zone over and over and over. #1 way to get me to not play your game

anyway OTHER than that aspect of the design, Flintlock: Siege of Dawn is pretty cool. really neat visual design throughout. love the characters

i can't blame anyone for not being into that stuff lol. i think the appeal for me is like... i'm a really anxious, clumsy person and it's very rewarding to prove to myself that i am capable of slowing down and learning from my mistakes. that's an ego boost. very satisfying to me.

BUT i don't accept that level of frustration in a lot of other games. i don't know that i can explain why it's a huge mood lifter for me to beat a boss i've died to 27 times in Elden Ring, but if i've made that many runs at a really shitty castle in SMB Lost Levels i am mostly just left Mad That I Have Had This Experience lmao.
