this reminds me that it is a few years I haven't replayed it - when it was new I replayed it over and over. I looked at the concept art all the time, I had it on the desktop wallpaper... I still get misty-eyed at the soundtrack for the last level when you climb the entire building for Kate :(

I forget about the indoor weapons sequences but I remember that I mostly went through by not engaging with the guns whatsoever, so maybe that's why?

I had a memory about an achievement for a completely pacifist run that I did get, but I wasn't clear on the specifics, so I just looked it up - yeah ok, there is an achievement for never shooting a gun throughout the whole game, so confirming, the guns are optional (I don't remember if this includes boss battles but I think yes?)

I do remember that if you choose to do them, the gun sequences just grind the game into a halt, the game in which you should be always on the move, so I wonder if this a design decision to disincentivize doing them or more plainly a design issue, lol

I had some more intelligent thoughts on the topic but I realize it's been 9 or 10 years since the last time I played and it's kind of embarrassing that it's been so long without touching this game that I really like. I'll go refresh my opinions and maybe even come back with written notes. long ago it was I wanted to even write a fansite about mirror's edge and then I never did...
