when i say i long to have been properly cognizant of the late 90s / early 00s gaming scene (i was alive, but as a dumb single-digits dumb idiot child), i guess i also mean embracing the truly out there things that were being made, like this controller from microsoft that was meant for controlling first-person shooters by rotating the entire right-half of the controller around the ball in the middle

too bad embracing the weirdness would have cost me almost $100 back in 1999 money

also, some more provided literature for those interested in seeing the controller "in action"

the "D-pad" (actually a giant hat-switch) is surprisingly nice to use. if you ignore the entire ball-rotation assembly gimmick it makes for a pretty nice digital gamepad controller for emulators and 2D games.

Only just discovered this blog today, this gets an immediate follow because I love weird thrift store stuff. 😁
