daily knowledge: garfield made his big break into television with the special Here Comes Garfield in 1982. directed by phil roman of peanuts special fame, the special marked a turning point for both him and garfield, as roman would direct the next garfield special, garfield on the town, and go on to direct many others afterwards, with animating future garfield specials being one of the reasons behind founding his studio, film roman. i highly recommend you listen to the album of the same name (linked above) with music both from and inspired by the special, sung by lou rawls and desiree goyette.
