daily knowledge: despite bill gates being the most famous name associated with microsoft windows, it's unknown if any of his own code ever shipped in a version of it. the last time he played a significant role in actually programming a commercial piece of microsoft software was in for the firmware of a computer called the TRS-80 model 100, released by radioshack in 1983. he would continue to contribute some amounts of code to various products until 1989, and while he was involved in the design of windows NT, it remains unknown what pieces of code that shipped in it, if any, were written by the man himself
