rechombling this because the linked game is good

(it's not a mini minesweeper, it's a whole game with a story and such, but it's also got slightly more complicated rules and a greater element of uncertainty than Minesweeper. and it's just really nicely put together with the art and music and feel of the game.)

There’s stories about how the initial version of Minesweeper actually addicted Bill Gates, he was obsessed with getting the lowest times in the company for whatever difficulty he was working on, to the point that other top-level Microsoft execs started scheming on how to get him to stop playing and get back to work. I think seeing this variation of the game back then would have made Bill dissolve the company.
