daily knowledge: speaking of tv sign offs, WNBC, NBC's flagship station in new york, was one of the longest running tv stations in the united states when the country's tv signals transitioned from analog to digital in 2009. on june 12th of that year, most analog stations went off the air for good, and immediately began broadcasting in digital. however, WNBC was different. it kept running for 2 more weeks, playing a video on loop detailing important information for those who might not have made the switch. but finally, on june 26th, when the historic analog tv station went off the air for the final time, NBC played their final sign off, which was a tribute to the network's storied past
