the website for gyration (who had made accelerometer-based mice for decades) suddenly changed in late 2021 to one hawking... utterly generic rebranded aliexpress cameras

i've never watched a brand zombify so quickly and seamlessly. usually it has to be dead for a while.

looking at parent-company-after-a-2019-buyout Adesso's own page evolving over time: after they bought gyration and did a conspicuously... cheap? feeling retheme at the tail-end of 2019, i feel like i'm watching a further descent into slop as 2020 progresses all the way into the post-Gyration Genericking era

though... i think most of the "cheap-feeling retheme" in 2019 is swapping from those clean, uniform-feeling Icon Buttons to stock-photos-with-labels, but looking further back it seems that stock-photos-with-labels to show the various markets they aim for was kind of a staple since 2015? so really the switch back to cheap feeling stock photo category buttons is more return to form than anything. maybe it's a longer and slower decline than i think, but... i dunno. i just get the Vibe that they really snowballed downhill in 2020.
