Biographical Information

Personality: Dr. Killian is extremely confident, bordering on smug, about her capabilities; it helps that her ass can always cash the cheques her mouth is writing. Competent, caring and thoughtful, she tends to hide behind an icy domme persona until opening up to close friends and colleagues. Not that into the "being a supervillain" thing on a personal level, she's nonetheless a reliable and hardworking member of the Korps, happy to contribute her all to the cause in less self-consciously campy ways.

Prior to transitioning, she was a sad, subby doormat, and thought she was a gay man; only while dressed in drag did she have any confidence, although that came with other baggage (see further below). Post-transition, able to be Marcy full-time, she enjoys powerplay (especially medfet, deeply enjoying domming scene partners in the role of her patients) and eventually concluded herself to be bisexual and demiromantic.

Background: Dr. Killian (Marcy, to her friends) grew up in Winnipeg, MB. A lapsed Catholic and former altar boy, she lost her faith as a teenager in the late 70s as a result of caring for her dying grandmother “Granny Clare” Killian, cursing any god who would allow needless suffering, and vowing to trust only in Science.™ (Indeed, fixing and upgrading Granny Clare's often-malfunctioning insulin pump prompted the start of her lifelong fascination with improving upon biology.) With her lower-middle-class family unable to support her education, she was able to attend the University of Manitoba Medical School on a full scholarship. Graduation was followed by a residency in internal medicine, and she was subsequently recruited as a junior biosciences researcher by the National Research Council in in Ottawa, ON, as part of the Special Projects Division - often known internally by the designation of its building on the NRC campus, Y-24.

Her experiences in the latter position left her deeply suspicious of state power, in particular becoming afraid that her contributions to early-90s government cloning research - intended to replace organs and even missing limbs - would be weaponized by the military and police. In 1991-1992, a crisis of conscience led Dr. Killian to attempt appealing directly to the Minister of Industry, Science and Technology to forbid military applications, a public service faux pas that led to being placed on leave by the Division Director, Dr. Ross Welland (known widely to his subordinates as "Rosshole"). Dr. Welland further threatened the revocation of her security clearance if she made any more trouble, correctly identifying her as a closeted queer. A night out drag clubbing to distract from her worries led to a chance encounter with Korps Operative Rin "Backchannel" Gorgoni, and accepting offered help to sabotage her work project. ("Disclosure")

Indeed, Dr. Killian did casual drag for many years, following an exhilarating "joke" drag act at a med school talent show. Medical gatekeeping and her well-worn copy of the DSM-III kept her convinced she must just be a gay man with a fetish, and she adopted the attitude - common at the time - of distinguishing her drag persona from her "real" self, as a performance that couldn't possibly become fully realized, no matter how much she wished it so.

By 1994, Dr. Killian had become close friends/fuckbuddies with Rin, and sufficiently jaded as to quit her government job (to the disappointment of her colleague Dr. Douglas Baek) and join the Korps. She settled at Sandy Hill Station (SHS) as a staff physician and researcher, reporting to Dr. Amanda "Mindy" Peril of Korps Medical. Meeting a large number of trans people, and becoming close also to the transfem Dr. Peril, led to her finally accepting herself and beginning to transition in 1995. ("Chapter Break")

The tabby was content merely to have a quiet and supportive place to use her talents, where she could be confident her work wouldn't be used by the wrong people, and continued to be part of the SHS Korps Medical contingent. It was in this role that she saved Rin's life after they were grievously injured by a PHL hero, Roger "Heartwood" Oakes, on a 2004 infiltration op ("After Hours"), filled in an unsettled Melissa "Biscotti" Schreiber on her inadvertent jump between parallel universes in 2005 ("Double Aspect"), and helped crack Grace Dunlop's egg in 2009, after the law student accidentally stumbled into SHS via its subterranean connections to the University of Ottawa campus. ("Sandy Hill")

Dr. Killian's known friends and associates include Rin, Dr. Peril, and Grace (also regular sex partners, although she resists getting too close); SHS Nurse Drones Candi and Cori, in service in the early 2000s; Benny Rutkowski and Roy Nicholas (civilians); and Dr. Douglas Baek (who himself later rose to the position of NRC Special Projects Director).
