On the one hand, John Brown was a fucking awesome guy who was well read, thoughtful, and actively tried to do things with as little bloodshed as possible even as he understood that the nation could not be cleansed without it. The portrayal of him as an insane madman is extremely propaganda from white people trying to ignore that he was one of the only sane people in the entire fucking country

on the other hand. It's really fun to imagine him as an avenging angel of justice completely beyond our reality with fire in his eyes and a pistol in his hand here to kill every single fucking shitty pro confederacy guy I've ever known,

Blade Runner has almost nothing to do with Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. But judged independently as their own works, they're both utter classics.

Same thing. Historical John Brown bears no resemblance to Protagonist John Brown, but judged separately both of them could be the face of revolution and progress.
