* im about to go thru the arduous process of backing up my ibook,
* reinstalling mac OS 9.2 and OS X 10.4,
* and then restoring all of my documents and software
* ill use this as an excuse to post on cohost rather than twitter, cause this feels like a better place for it
* i might try and include pics as well, in case anyone is interested in watching the process im going thru

* so to start off with, before i can get into the ibook, i need to make sure i have installers and a place to back things up to
* for this purpose, because the ibook is too old to really work well with any of my newer macs,
* i broke out terezibook, my powerbook G4
* disk utility reports that i do in fact have a partition with a mac OS X installer prepared already,
* and after checking it in finder, it is in fact a copy of the OS X 10.4.6 tiger installer

* ive gone ahead and thrown terezibook into target disk mode and broken out a firewire cable
* its only 400 to 400, the ibook G3 doesnt have a firewire 800 port,
* but thankfully the powerbook G4 does have both a FW400 and 800 port
* theres actually a lot less on here than i had expected, so it shouldnt take too long to transfer everything
* ill move on to the next phase when thats done

* welp
* heres a problem
* i pulled out my copies of presumably the proper software restore discs for this model ibook
* (i say presumably because its a little special and i cant figure out exactly what model it is)
* because i wanted to see if i could use them to reinstall OS 9 with all the proper drivers without having to first install jaguar
* because that would take way more time
* turns out
* it doesnt wanna recognize that the disc is in fact the right disc, meaning i probably cant do that
* so whats that mean?
* it means im gonna have to burn a copy of the OS 9.2.2 universal install disc and find the display drivers again
* that way i can install it from that
* but first im gonna have to burn another copy i guess...

* thankfully burning discs isnt too difficult to do, but its not exactly smth i can do from my daily driver
* for this, im turning to krisbook, a beautiful example of a 13 inch 2009 macbook pro currently booted into snow leopard
* ive downloaded specifically the unofficial OS 9.2.2 disc created in 2013 by macOS9Lives,
* in the hopes it will have the graphics drivers that are missing from the official OS 9.2.2 disc
* that way i dont have to find another copy of them somewhere and install them myself
* because for that id either have to look online AGAIN or dig out yet ANOTHER mac that im only 83% sure has them on the hard drive
