it's getting harder to be sure of anything with a Starlink, with their broadcast coverage having ceased altogether except for a courtesy cast on Twitter that starts five minutes before liftoff.
as wet as it was (my glasses are still speckled with tiny droplets of spitting rain), I didn't even know if it was going til the horizon lit up.

the clouds, as always, add a lovely bit of sky drama and depth to the picture, though!

I've actually remembered to put the snapseed edited version of this up on my photo site already, you can view or purchase prints of it from here!

unrelatedly, I saw a chost offhandedly state that folks are silencing the global feed tag nowadays, should I still tag these photo posts with it or is my existing gamut of tags enough?

in reply to @aWildLupi's post:

i think overall there's a good reason to leave specific stuff to specific tags. I always saw the Global Feed as a way to address all of cohost, or to toss out "shower thoughts" for the site to enjoy

i also think we need to find more ways to bring huge space nerds to cohost

i don't know if we're gonna have a whole lot of success with that, a lot of 'em are not the same kinda people we are and wouldn't necessarily find themselves at home on cohost

it makes it lonely here, but maybe that's for the better that none of the musk fanatics and "spaceflight isn't political #teamspace" folks didn't find their way here, dunno

thanks!! i was halfway expecting the lens to get covered in li'l rain droplets and spoil it, but it didn't really. for that matter, the lil droplets that did hit the lens added to it, somehow!

So SpaceX no longer do the Youtube feed? Too bad, I always used that for watching Vandenberg launches from home. I don't have a Twitter account, so I probably can't watch this new thing. (Twitter used to be readable without an account. That no longer works, because when not logged in the tweets get sorted in like order, not chronological.)

Since you ask, if folks are silencing tags that's their problem not mine. I won't let it affect my choice of tags.

yep, they stopped last week and now only broadcast through their Twitter account.
in the process, we've lost the 'technical webcast' where it' just the comms loops and no hosts that usually starts an hour before launch, too, so everyone, actual press included, have a whole lot less info about what their intentions are and if they're actually going to commit to a launch or not 'til the rocket is visibly getting fueled.
also twitter cannot competently serve live video at anything more than 360p to most people its great
