big day today. We debuted the new studio! I got a baconeggancheese to celebrate. It was kinda mid.

We also talked about our documentary on LaKeith Smith, a boy who was 15 when police killed his friend and then charged him with Felony Murder.

Here's the full documentary:

This is a complicated case, not only because of the body camera footage (of lack thereof), but because of how it reflects what we think of as fairness. As quick as outsiders may be to judge, there's a point at which it's important to hear the voices of the boys' mothers (who are also angry with their sons for burglarizing a home, and being armed), as well as the voice of the District Attorney, who has his own perspective on what happened years ago, and what his motivations are in the community he was elected to serve.

Hopefully, we can get to a point where we can honestly say we've truly done our best to understand everyone.

But overall, understanding how the Felony Murder charge works in America involves taking a pretty hard look at what we think 'justice' is.

There's an update since this documentary was filmed: LaKeith has been granted a resentencing hearing. We don't know what will happen, but I'll be in Alabama to cover it. More on Tuesday, but in the meantime, here's more in an article on what is next for LaKeith.

we also talked about Daria, which Samir is finally coming around to. Also a ton of guests popped in!

We're on Twitch every Tuesday and Thursday, from 11 to 2ish (??), at twitch.tv/VICE. Come through and say hi!
