Here’s what we talked about on today’s Twitch stream:

Jason to talk about which Metaverses suck, and which don't (and who's making money off selling digital clothes) from this new podcast!

Chloe Xiang to talk about the WGA writer strikes, and why writers are fighting to reject AI.

and Mack talking about how white nationalist fight clubs, and gets into how vulnerable young white men are being lured into extremist groups.

He also recommends The Oxygen of Amplification for anyone interested in how reporters cover extremism.

And of course, VICE Book Club:

Here’s the rundown today for Thursday, April 13

First up, Matthew Gault was on to talk about the classified documents that were leaked on a Minecraft Discord server. We also took the opportunity to actually play some Minecraft

Carter Sherman gave us the update on restrictions to abortion access, and how things have continued to get even more dire since last time.

We also talked about Kid Rock and this weird rumor that Anheuser-Busch stock dropped after Bud Light made a commercial featuring a trans influencer. It’s absolutely not true, but entirely predictable that a bunch of grifters are pretending it is, and others are getting fooled.

And of course an in-depth conversation about Mario 64 physics:

See you next time!

big day today. We debuted the new studio! I got a baconeggancheese to celebrate. It was kinda mid.

We also talked about our documentary on LaKeith Smith, a boy who was 15 when police killed his friend and then charged him with Felony Murder.

Here's the full documentary:

This is a complicated case, not only because of the body camera footage (of lack thereof), but because of how it reflects what we think of as fairness. As quick as outsiders may be to judge, there's a point at which it's important to hear the voices of the boys' mothers (who are also angry with their sons for burglarizing a home, and being armed), as well as the voice of the District Attorney, who has his own perspective on what happened years ago, and what his motivations are in the community he was elected to serve.

Hopefully, we can get to a point where we can honestly say we've truly done our best to understand everyone.

But overall, understanding how the Felony Murder charge works in America involves taking a pretty hard look at what we think 'justice' is.

There's an update since this documentary was filmed: LaKeith has been granted a resentencing hearing. We don't know what will happen, but I'll be in Alabama to cover it. More on Tuesday, but in the meantime, here's more in an article on what is next for LaKeith.

we also talked about Daria, which Samir is finally coming around to. Also a ton of guests popped in!

We're on Twitch every Tuesday and Thursday, from 11 to 2ish (??), at twitch.tv/VICE. Come through and say hi!

for Tuesday, March 14th. You can watch the full VOD here. Let's get into it:

First up, Pallavi Pundir with a deep dive into 'dead' men who are fighting to be declared alive.

It starts off with a 68-year-old man named Lal Bihari, who was declared 'dead' in 1976. He says his cousins bribed a local land official to declare him 'dead' in order to grab his land.

Once you've been declared 'dead', it's pretty much impossible to overturn. If you’re dead in Indian government records, you can’t buy a phone, rent a home, start a business, get married, or get divorced.

The article goes way deeper than that, and it's this bizarre kafkaesque situation that thousands of people find themselves in, and there's no clear way out.

Also, shout out to the weirdo in chat who accused one of these 'dead' men of Photoshopping(?) a video(??) of himself trying to get the government's attention. Truly bizarre.

Next up, Greg Walters with an interview with Trump's #billiondollarlawyer

The Waka Flocka interview on this is pretty hilarious.

And for Vice Book Club, we'll watch Daria, which we somehow spent ~10 minutes talking about:

(by the way, whoever uploaded this slowed it down a bit - maybe to get around copyright or something. I recommend watching it on 1.25x, that will put it back at normal speed).

That's it for this time. You can watch the full VOD here:

We're live on Twitch every Tuesday and Thursday, starting 11am until whenever we feel like it, at http://twitch.tv/VICE. See you in the next one!
