As someone who likes a good complete data dump, this was one of the first things I checked after signing up here. But scrolling through the settings pages for both my page and my user account, I couldn't find any kind of data download/export option. A bit surprising for a modern non-megacorp social site - especially compared to Mastodon, where the ability to export your data and transfer everything is a major feature.
I thought perhaps I missed something, but apparently not - there's a feature request for "Export my data" that's still open. The privacy notice does say that you can email privacy@cohost.org to request your Personal Information, so they're not actually violating the GDPR or anything - it's just really inconvenient to get your data back out.
This is a bit of a bummer, because I was meaning to post some long-ish stuff here, which I would like to keep if I ever set up a proper blog and/or if something happens to Cohost :/ At least I noticed before posting much of anything, so I can still figure out some way to back up my posts as I go.
I was hoping this would be simple to automate by just subscribing to the Atom feed for my page (and I am very happy that Cohost natively provides Atom and other feeds!), but unfortunately that doesn't include the original Markdown text for the posts. You only get a plain text format that looks kind of like Markdown but isn't, and rendered HTML like on the real webpage. This is completely fine when using the feed for its intended purpose, but suboptimal when abusing it as a backup/export solution.
So for now I guess I'll settle for the fallback solution: manually copying all the posts I care about into a repo of Markdown files :/
