Wait, does rechosting now also keep the tags that the original poster added? I've been rechosting things and it's keeping the tags and it feels like it looks like I'm the one who added the tags. What's up with that?

You must log in to comment.

in reply to @dijonketchup's post:

it now preserves the op's tags as well as the tags on any reply, in addition to any tags your rechost adds, all attributed to their proper author
if you didn't add a reply and someone rechosts from you, it'll keep the tags from the previous levels but drop your tags, so it's still proper to leave not-intended-to-be-rechosted commentary in the tags as long as you aren't also replying (along with other uses for tags such as any content warnings that aren't in the original tags and any tags you use for categorization for your own blog)
this was requested specifically because of content warnings. cw tags are now preserved and can be safely used for tag muffling even when the post is rechosted, and nsfw work behind a cut will now preserve the tags so you know what content is behind the cut before you click, etc
