I like how, in gen 1 Pokemon's first outting, the JP only Red and Green, the sprites are clearly done by multiple people, and some of those people were extremely good at sprite art, and some of the others were.... not as much. Like, some sprites are perfect, they're just how that Pokemon would look in future sprites forever. And then some are weirdly... blorby. Very blorby.
I almost wish I could look into the universe where they decided that the good person's art style WASN'T what they wanted and instead all Pokemon in the future were blorby.
And then when they made new sprites for JP Blue, which were used for the international Red and Blue, they made so many of them better, but they also made so many of them much, much worse.
