As a huge fan of Little Shop of Horrors, I am so glad the director's cut exists. The theatrical ending undermines not only the source material, but the source material's source material. I could go on and on, but this would just turn into infodumping about one of my special interests.

I'll just leave you with a fun fact: When Little Shop was first released on DVD, the original ending was a bonus feature. However, for unknown reasons, the DVD was quickly recalled and replaced with one without the original ending bonus feature. As a result, that original pressing is extremely rare. Additionally, the ending on that DVD was in black and white. Why? Because that was the only print they had on hand. Rumor is that the original print was thought to have been lost in a studio fire. However, this was obviously not the case, as the director's cut is fully in color. As far as I'm aware, no one knows for sure why the original DVD was pulled.
