daily knowledge: starting while Minecraft was still in its pre-alpha stage and throughout the vast majority of the game's history, Steve's in-game texture depicted him without a goatee. but throughout this time, much of the game's merchandise and promo art continued to depict him with one. this feature was finally restored to Steve's in-game sprite in 2022.
