I always meant to ask you in private, but I figured it might help other folks: got any advice about learning new languages as an adult? Asking for a friend who's definitely not been trying to learn for 15 years and getting discouraged every time.

The best I’ve found is paying a weekly tutor and watching contemporary media of the language im studying with subtitles on and then without subtitles at all! Another good one is finding karaoke songs you like in that language and learning to sing them!
