I've not gotten any good at writing descriptions since I first made my tumblr and by god I'm not about to start now.

we are aware of issues impacting image uploads. this is an issue with our storage hosting provider and we are working with them to figure out what's going on and how to resolve it. we will update this post with additional information as we know it.

sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for using cohost :eggbug:

April 4 3:00 PM PDT: they're still working to identify and fix the root issue. since this issue is ongoing, we're making it cohost corner for the time being.

April 4 7:30 PM PDT: our understanding is that they are still working on identifying the root cause. at this point, attachment uploads have been down for approximately 24 hours. this is well beyond our expectations and we are investigating options for bringing back uploads without them. we’ll have more to report in the morning.

April 5 6:30 AM PDT: downtime continues. we've posted a longer update with details about our mitigation plans.

UPDATE 10:37am PDT: we have completed enough of the migration that attachment uploads should now be working. we will be continuing the process of moving existing attachments over to our new hosting provider. please let us know if you are continuing to see issues.

hi folks! as you probably noticed, the downtime continues unabated. we'd like to share an update on our mitigation plans.

this is, unfortunately, the second major outage we've had with digitalocean spaces within the span of a month. the fact that this has been occurring for nearly 36 hours now is a last straw for us and we are beginning the process of moving away from them for attachment hosting.

we anticipate image uploading will be back through our new provider by the end of the day. we are working on some CDN magic to serve from both hosts simultaneously while the migration is ongoing so we can bring back image uploads ASAP while existing data is still moving between hosts.

during this time, you may experience some inconsistencies while loading images and other attachments. we're hoping there won't be any issues but want to provide warning.

we'll provide notice once we consider the issue resolved. we're sorry for the inconvenience and just as frustrated by it as y'all are. thank you for your patience, and thank you as always for using cohost.

I put my feet up on the desk and leaned back in my chair. In the bottom drawer was a half-full bottle of bourbon left over from the office Christmas party. I should bring it home - unprofessional to have alcohol at work. Just as I was about to put the plan in to action, in walked a conventionally attractive woman. No patch on my wife, though, of course, and the minor fact of her gender immediately became immaterial to me as I focused on the straightforward problem she presented. After we agreed on the scope of work and signed a contract, I put on my normal hat and normal coat (baseball cap and denim jacket) and carried the bottle of bourbon home, where I would occasionally make myself an Old Fashioned on the weekend after 8pm. I would tackle my new client's work during business hours next week, scrupulously documenting time spent and expenses accrued.

Folks, we don't need image uploading. Image posting is superfluous. We can render images using the most powerful graphics system in the known universe: the human mind.

I will start. I want you to picture a horse in your mind. It is a beautiful chestnut horse. Its coat is lustrous. Its mane is long and dark and well-groomed, but with just a hint of tousled danger. It is a tall and strong horse, the kind of horse that would, in another time, be ridden into battle by a tall and strong man in armor. But this horse is a placid grazer. The horse is chewing on grass. Chewing on grass and subtly moving closer to you with every passing moment. It is as if your vision (the sight in your mind's eye) is drawn inexorably towards the horse. Ever closer. You are seeing the horse's head. You are seeing the horse's snout. You are seeing the horse's nostril. The horse is terribly near, now. The horse is your entire world.

See? Easy. No need for image uploads.
