I fell down this same rabbit hole last year and my first thought was also "hey, that's not that far from here, I could literally drive over there right now."

I once spent like 3 hours figuring out where a video by The Gooch Palms was filmed (a Defiance, Ohio Big Boy) and later I stopped there on a road trip and mentioned it to the waitress who was deeply unimpressed. Good times!
