Sometimes you just have to sit down and think about the fact that aside from Iori Miyazawa's philosophies, the yuri webnovel series Otherside Picnic has three main inspirations:
- classic science fiction novel Roadside Picnic, as the name implies;
- Japanese creepypasta and urban legends; and
- a series of Touhou Project spinoff short stories which are centered on a pair of ambiguosly gay college students, and which are published in the dust jackets of music CDs the series creator put out which contain music from the games and/or inspired by them.
