What it do, y'all? Last What's Good of the month, and as usual we've got a lot of bangers on deckington for you. Let's dive into the new joints, but first, some Bonus Beats in the form of music news and features from around the web this week.
Bonus Beats
Chester Watson brought two new joins to the COLORS studio, and they're both sounding wavy. If you haven't already tapped in, check out his most recent LP from the mighty POW Recordings, fish don't climb trees.
Year Of The Knife has a new LP one the way, following the June car accident that left the band's vocalist Madi Watkins with a traumatic brain injury. Check out the update from Stereogum on their plans, get a message from Madi, and contribute to their Gofundme for medical recovery.
Pro Era rapper and producer Chuck Strangers stopped by Audiotree to talk with Psalm One, and give a live performance of joints from The Boys & Girls EP. Cop the Audiotree live performance from the Audiotree Live Bandcamp site.
Case Arnold took his newest single to the live stage, at The Forge to be exact, with Bryant Taylorr and Ron Gilmore. If you haven't already, be sure to add this to your playlists and keep a look out for a new album coming soon.

That'll do it for all the new music that caught my ear this week, but before we get up outta here, I wanted to address the news about what happened with Bandcamp this week. If you haven't already heard, Epic sold Bandcamp to the music licensing platform Songtrdr amid layoffs that eliminated 16% of its workforce.
Given the language of the statement from Songtradr, how their current service requires musicians and licensors a monthly fee, and:
Asked whether artist revenue shares, user experience, or the editorial platform Bandcamp Daily will be affected by the acquisition, Songtradr declined to comment.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that Bandcamp is able to maintain itself, but I don't have the highest of hopes. Bandcamp, from artists, to music journalists, to fans has been a lifeline and in some cases legitimately life-changing. It will be a profound shame if it goes the way of everything else good that runs afoul of late-stage (an increasingly, seemingly poorly coined term of phrase) capitalism. Musician and artists have been among the most profoundly squeezed by the whims of the C-suite class that decide a good business, even a profitable business, isn't worth sustaining if it's profits aren't exponentially growing. It sucks, to put it lightly. For artists, try and find ways to offer your own storefronts that don't rely on someone else's platform--or scams like Blockchain/crypto outlets--so that no one can pull it out from underneath you. For fans, when artists offer you a way to support them directly, take it and share the news with others. It's pretty much the only way we can count on working.
As always, make good choices.
