Spare me the Hallmark Karl Marx.

Game and Music Lover. Writer. Unfortunate optimist.

I wanna fight EVERYBODY who contributed to that whole discourse about the effort of dev teams and how "big games" with rough edges/issues should be ashamed of themselves compared to the "polish" of this game, because chillllle. Again, I'm having a good time so far, and Larian really pulled off some amazing shit here, but there's plenty of stuff in here that if I weren't willing to just charge it to the game (that game being CRPGs), I would be extremely spicy about. Like:

  • The map/pathing that doesn't make it clear how you can get to certain space/objectives on the map that should be kinda obvious.
  • Getting locked out of dialogue/romance options due to glitches or just not anticipating a player missing something that could probably be handwaved.
  • THE FUCKING CAMERA CONTROLS.
  • This is probably the most transparent 'to hit/to succeed' has ever been in a game I've played, and yet, the percentages still seem to lie to you.

If I wanted to be an asshole, I'd throw out the amount of time that BG3 was in Early Access as a cudgel, but ultimately what people should come away with from all this is that game dev is HARD. Larian and co. should be commended on the accomplishment, but they shouldn't be used as a weapon to talk bad about games or studios you don't like.
