Bonus Beats

An "allow me to re-introduce myself-based film" to get newcomers and established rebels alike familiar with the duo of ShrapKnel, A Week in the Life of a Razor follows Curly Castro and PremRock as they tour the West Coast, and take stock of their partnership. Be sure to get in tune with Nobody Planning To Leave.

Tennessee spitter Ron Obasi lets go of some unreleased heat in a short live performance from "The Sacred Space," which hopefully means we're getting some new tunes shortly.

Danny Brown touched down at the KEXP studios for a live set of a few joints from Quaranta, along with guest appearances from Bruiser Wolf and Kassa Overall.

Last day of the month, last What's Good of the month, pretty tidy huh? We're closing out May very strong with lots of great new joints, including: Frank Leone taking us into the deep sea with some FISH, Previous Industries taking a quick trip to "Zayre", Angela Muñoz fueling a "Forest Fire" and much, much more. First though, let's get into some Bonus Beats from around the web.

Bonus Beats

Lionclad, producer, DJ, and leader of the creative collective Azikazin Magic World, put together a live Legend of Zelda remix set for Seoul's PlayX4 gaming festival, and you can check out the audio up above.

BNDCMPR - What's Good - Week of 5/26

That does it for this week. Be sure to share this with your folks, and don't hesitate to let me know what you're listening to this weekend down in the comments. Take care, and make good choices.

You made it through the week, so why not take a load off and cruise into the weekend with some new joints from What's Good? This week had a lot of great new joints, including Yaya Bey's long-awaited new LP, another single from Charli XCX's upcoming album, the return of the Mutant Academy, the first single from Mach-Hommy and Kaytranada's collaborative effort, DJ Quik and JasonMartin continuing to carry the flag for West Coast funk, and much more! But first, some Bonus Beats.

Bonus Beats

Another absolute giant of music passed this week, with the death of Steve Albini at the age of 61. David Roth reflected on his impact, and the rest of the Defector staff talked about some of the records he helped bring to life.

Taiwanese Math-Rock gems Elephant Gym linked up with KEXP for a live performance back in March, and it's up on YouTube now for you and yours.

Otoboke Beaver keeps the streak of high energy performances for NPR's Tiny Desk going with a blistering set of songs from all across their catalog.

We made it through another week, friends, and not only that we've made it to another Bandcamp Friday. Here at What's Good, on every Friday I bring you some of the best music from around the web, and this Friday Bandcamp forgoes their profit share directly to the artists and labels that use their platform. That means more bread in their pockets, which makes it a perfect time to cop some new shit by going through today's post.

There's brand new joints that you can buy right now from NxWorries, Fabiana Palladino, La Luz, Khruangbin, Radamiz, Bacchae, Mamaleek, Blueprint, Devin Morrison, and much more. On top of that, even artists that aren't releasing anything new today have some deals for you. A few that just hit my inbox include:

But even if today's post isn't enough, there's a huge backlog that you can check out in the archives. Just hit up any of the playlists I've put together on Tidal, YouTube, or conveniently enough in BNDCMPR, then when you find something you like, head on over to Bandcamp and buy you some.

Before we get into the joints, let's take a look at a few Bonus Beats.

Bonus Beats

90s British rock legends Lush have a new tour documentary streaming on the Criterion Channel, comprised of Super-8 footage from the band's bassist Phil King called "A Far From Home Movie." Along with the streaming premiere, you can cop two movie posters on the band's Bandcamp and from 4AD.

Kim Kelly's metal newsletter Salvo is here! If you're like me you might've gotten to know her from her stellar writing on labor rights and unions, but her heart's always been with metal, and Salvo's a place for her to cover it her way. Tap in with her for this first missive, where she talks about what led her to start the newsletter, her plans for its future, and Bolt Thrower.

Lukah's tour diary for his Black Temples run in the UK with Stooky Bros is live in full on YouTube, with interviews performance footage, and slices of life from stops in Glasgow, Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle, Manchester, and London. If you haven't already, check out his excellent release with Real Bad Man from last week, Temple Needs Water. Village Needs Peace.

And now, onto this week's music.
