Every year around my birthday, I play through Mega Man 2 by Capcom on the NES. Since I've done a handful of playthroughs on the stream over the years, I decided I would tackle this year's playthrough on the "difficult" difficulty - or just by playing Rockman 2 by default.

I probably haven't done this for at least 10 years, but playing the game is like riding a bike. I finished the game without needing to continue, and it took only about half the time I expected.

In Metal Man's stage, I made a remark about the press traps in the stage. The way the sprites are displayed, I always thought the game made it look like the presses have a face on the front that is displayed toward the player's perspective.

I haven't made a "GemuBaka doodle" in a long time, so this gave me the inspiration to draw out Press-Kun:

He's trying his best, and he's just happy to be included in the game. I think I'm going to declare Press-Kun to be the official mascot of video game traps. Perhaps someone else with talent is willing to draw their own version of Press-Kun.

In one other items of business, I had something happen during the playthrough that I've never seen before.

I hit the Mega Man gacha jackpot and dropped four 1-ups out of one bird egg. I commented I didn't have to continue in this playthrough, and, well ... this is probably why if I'm being completely honest.

What a crazy drop to get while farming. I really just wanted some extra health. shrugs

I'll probably end up doing more Mega Man 2 musings down the road, but at least these two events really stuck out to me.
