As much as I'm using other sites more these days, there's still one thing I don't think I can leave Twitter for just yet - communicating in non-English languages. Or, well, non-European languages at least. None of the new sites seem to have a significant contingent of people who speak non-European languages1, and Twitter's turned out to be the best place to connect with Japanese game developers for research stuff. Don't see anything else being able to replace that unless I signed up for (ugh) Facebook or Linkedin.


  1. Well, Mastodon used to, but it seems like a lot of that's died out? And the kinds of people I want to talk to aren't there.

I really hope some of those Japanese game devs with under the radar Twitters don't self-delete (or get deleted for inactivity since it seems like that might be a thing), because there's a crazy wealth of info hidden in those tweets. JA Wikipedia articles on lesser known games even frequently use those tweets as sources
