feels like in that case the article should say "a strong preference for it/its except in formal contexts such as this article"
Idk why but the little note about it at the end kinda feels like it's insinuating they think the general public is too stupid to understand it/its pronouns, as if the general public can understand 90% of any wikipedia article (I am the general public).
Not to say that's in any way the most annoying thing here, but I think it's worth noting! They could have just added "we used she/her pronouns so our stupid little readers wouldn't get confused and also we don't actually care so your welcome" and it would be equally as insulting imho. I am going to explode 🩷
I started reading the article, then headed to the site (linked surprisingly?) and then forgot about what I was doing and watched the cat run to my cursor. Good times.
