Can check - drinking the werewolf beer.

This was dangerously drinkable. I've never had a "white stout" before - is there even a consensus on what that style is yet? It's definitely got a stout profile but with very little bitterness; surprising sweetness actually, and a lot of the bourbon coming through. Doesn't taste as 10.8% as it actually is.

Is this an Aussie specific beer, going by your last few posts? i find myself wanting to go back to bourbon barrel beers every so often but ive had too many misses with them; just no balance in the flavours and a lot of harshness.

Yeah, this one’s Aussie; I picked it up in Melbourne but it’s by Hawkers, who I’m pretty sure get national distribution.

I’m probably not the right person to make recommendations to you because I’m actually a big fan of bourbon barrel aged beers, but I will say that non-stouts (or mellow stouts like this) would probably fit your tastes better. Would get the flavours from the barrel aging without harshness from the underlying beer.

i'll keep an eye out for it!

I had a big thing for Imperial Stouts once upon, but my palate has been more for fruits and craft pilsners and kolsch for a while now.
If you do have some go-tos for barrel aged, available in the BC lands, i'd be interested to hear! I love to challenge and re-introduce my taste buds to things
