"You don't have bad morals, do you?" is pretty unique framing for a kickstarter
Currently, a pirated version of Cooly Skunk with the lock removed is being sold online. However, since it is an illegal copy, people with morals cannot play it even if they want to, resulting in a distorted situation where only those without morals can enjoy the game.
If I wanted a "legitimate" version, I'd just pick up one of the dozens of copies of the PS1 version on eBay going for between $30-60.
FTR they're printing copies of the unreleased SNES game, which is substantially different from the PS1 version.
the original japanese also uses "brainless people" alongside that, so it seems he's just denouncing grubby rom kiddies, which, yeah, those people exist, but there's plenty of us who like seeing this stuff without acting entitled, so I'm also like, do you have to peel back the cover on yourself this much? this guy also got in a weird flamewar with some devs a couple years ago, and the insertion of this phrasing about "morals" in what should be a run-of-the-mill repro isn't really rehabilitating my perception of him
yeah part of it's about staying on-code re: denouncing non-licensed releases, but the rest is just this person being typically self-aggrandizing and using their association with [vintage game figure who matters to maybe a dozen other people] as an excuse to grandstand. pretty low on the grand scheme of vgm content weirdos, but still a bit of an eye-roll
Considering the assholes who sell repro carts of games at ridiculous markups have no morals...
