This is genuinely incredible stuff here. The NSW Libs just... forgot to nominate their candidates for council elections this year? Which means they're just not running candidates in a bunch of places this time. They demanded extra time on the deadline they missed and got denied because, well, everyone else was able to stick to the deadline? They're even trying to sue over it now, which seems absurd on its face. Suing someone else over your own mistake, really? Classic.

It's gotten bad enough the federal branch of the party is trying to take over the state branch now, or at least replace all their leadership. Very funny but also could completely destroy the party for a couple years, so win/win

very funny when realistically the only effective liberals in state is Queensland because Victoria liberals sided with literal anti vaxxers and mobsters, if you remember that
it's even funnier, a bunch of councils won't even have an election because there are less candidates than seats. if i stuck my hand up to run in an election in a place ive never been i'd have won
yeah. some of the people who missed out were incumbents sitting on comfortable leads
reading the article it looks like the lawsuit would be by liberal party councilors against their own party leadership (not the electoral commission). which seems like arguably more of a mess?
