Wow. I just came across an official "Vista compatibility" patch for a game that apparently just... stripped out the copy protection without advertising that, because StarForce wasn't working on Vista yet.
Anyway, this is good news for my marriage because I was 50% confident running the game this time wouldn't brick the Windows machine Jessica and I both play games on. Which it definitely did before, and it took me like 45 minutes to figure out how to fix it.
